An Occupy Chicago call for a foreclosure moratorium at Daley Plaza today did result in Dana Wright, deputy chief of staff for Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart showing up to defend the sheriff’s office. Wright said that Dart was meeting with two Occupy delegates this afternoon about activists call for a one-year moratorium on foreclosure evictions.

Freya Horne, Sherriff’s Dept Atty testifies at a 4/2/12 San Francisco Land Use Committee Meeting on Foreclosure-related evictions: “From October 2011 through Feb. of this year (2012) — a 5-month period — we scheduled a total of 1228 evictions. Of that total, thirty-seven were foreclosure-related evictions. Of the 37, we actually performed 25. So it’s (foreclosure-related evictions) a very small percentage of the evictions we actually performed.” We’re doing more research.
